How Much to Feed

These amounts are small. A typical cat takes around 100 mg a day — about a tenth of what a large dog takes. That is a part-fill of the enclosed spoon, not a level one, so measure it rather than judging it by eye.
Getting a cat to take it. Cats are fussier than dogs. Mix the powder into a teaspoon of wet food or broth and offer it separately, just before the main meal, rather than stirring it through a full bowl. If your cat refuses it that way, it can be mixed into a little water or broth and given by syringe. Introduce it over a few days rather than all at once.

Is It Suitable For Cats?
Cat owners ask this more than dog owners do, and for a good reason. Cats process some compounds differently from other animals. They are poor at a liver process called glucuronidation, which is why medicines that are routine for people and dogs — paracetamol and aspirin among them — are dangerous for cats.
PEA is not cleared by that pathway. It is a fatty acid amide, broken down by two enzymes into palmitic acid and ethanolamine, both of which are ordinary substances the body already handles every day.
That explains why the glucuronidation problem does not apply here. It is not a statement about what PEA does. PEA has been examined in published feline studies, and the research in cats is much smaller than the research in dogs — worth knowing if you are comparing the two. How much do I actually give a cat?
